Laying in the grass

Laying in the grass
By Finan Malcolm

As I’m laying in the grass,
I start to think about the past,
We all grow up so fast!
I imagine someone pulling a big red trigger,
So I stopped watching Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.
From eating birthday cakes with my hands,
To drinking root beer out of brown cans.
We all grow up so fast!
Boys stopped playing in the mud and dirt,
While girls began to wear make-up and flirt.
From changed diapers day to day,
To auditioning for the Middle school play.
We all grow up so fast!
Instead of parents reading our favorite bedtime fable,
Now were texting under the glass dinner table.
No more floral dresses, or pink bows in our hair,
Just shorts and a T-shirt, no one has a care,
Because we all grow up so fast!
That’s what I think about when laying in the grass.

"The Haunted Alley!"

As I walk out the door into the dark night I hear a scream. An ear piercing scream, it’s coming from right around the corner! I flip out; I am going to be late to the movies.
(I was supposed to meet my friends there!) I run into the house and lock the doors; my sister comes running down the stairs, “What was that?” She says.
“I don’t know I was standing outside next to the alley when I heard it!” I said.
“What are you talking about? I meant why did you lock the doors?” She said. By this time I am freaking out! If I leave to meet my friends whatever it is will get me. If I don’t leave I’ll be late and I’ll have to explain what I heard to my sister. So, I ask my sister to give me a ride and of course she says yes, she loves to drive. I get there and my sister says “Don’t expect a ride home!” Oh no! I forgot about that if I walk home it will be really late and who knows what is out there! I ask my friend for a ride, “Uhhh, well I have to hitch a ride with my brother and his car only has 2 seats!” she said.
I ask my other friend, “Well my mom said she doesn’t want to drive out that way tonight but you can sleepover!” That’s not even an option because I have soccer tomorrow at 8:00 am and I have to be in bed by 11:00.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! That movie was so scary I had to leave half way through because I was walking home and getting scared while already being scared is the worst ever! I get half-way down the block and hear another ear piercing scream and a vibration on my…” under side!” Phew! It was just my phone in my back pocket I answer, “Hello?” “Where are you?” It’s my sister I say, “I’m walking home, about 2 blocks away!” “Well hurry up I keep hearing a screaming noise outside!” Shoot that means whatever it is, isn’t gone yet! I am a block away from the alley when I see 3 dark shadows run across the street along with 3 different sounding screams! Oh-no! This “Thing” is getting people and I am going to be next! Wait that’s it! “Going to be NEXT!”
Now that I know I run across the street, get home, and tell my sister what the screaming is. Every week this group of people called the freaks get together and pick a freaky movie. This week the movie was called “Going to be Next!” The cool thing about these movies though is that the project them in dark and creepy alleys. This week it was the alley next to my house! Now I get why people were yelling and screaming! Finally I finish telling my sister and start laughing! She thinks I’m a freak of course and goes to bed! I decide that next week I’ll go to watch the movie in the alley, whatever it is!

The "Witch"

Well, you may think I’m crazy but, my neighbor is a WITCH! It all started one day when I was in my yard riding my bike, when I heard an ear piecing scream…
I was freaked out, so I asked my sister if she had heard it, she said no. I decided maybe I was imaging things when all of a sudden I heard a gun shot. It was coming from the “witches” house! I’m guessing my sister heard it too because she got up and ran into the house, in shock! I went inside and told my mom and she said to just stay inside for a while. For the next few days the same thing happened when I was riding my bike. First an ear piercing scream then a gun shot, over and over again, day after day. After a while I decided not to tell my mom so that I didn’t have to “Stay inside for a while”. I started an investigation; I wore a watch when I rode my bike to see what time a day it happened. After the 12th day I figured out that it happened every day at exactly 1: 42 in the afternoon. Then I realized if I stayed up late enough, the same thing happened at 1:42 in the morning, an ear piercing scream followed by a gun shot. I was getting Kind of freaked out so I decided to stop the investigation. For a while!
A few weeks later I had nothing to do so I decided to get ready for the night. The night I would go into her house. The witches’ house… 2 days later at exactly 12:45am I went to her house so I had about an hour to get in, set up the video cameras, get out, and set up my computer. I was so scared! The first room I went into was very dusty except for a few footprints. I set up my first camera. The second room I went into was covered with take-out boxes. I was thinking, Ewww! Gross! When suddenly, I saw they were full of dead bugs, even grosser! My heart was pounding as I ran into the next room; it was very clean with a bed, and in the bed, was the “witch”, heavily asleep. I glanced at her clock it said 1:32 exactly 10 minutes left to get into my house and set up the computer!
The computer is set up at 1:40 the witch is waking up! She reaches under her bed and grabs a gun with a target. She goes into the take-out box room and grabs a box full of live bugs! She sets a live bug on the target and it, screams? The scream makes my sister jump in her sleep! Then there is a gun shot and the bug is dead. She puts it in a dead bug take-out box and goes back to bed. The same thing happens the next day, and the next! I was happy to finally find out what was happening!
I never did go back in to take down the cameras! And I never did find out why it was at that certain time, or why she even did it! But I guess its okay to not know everything!

The First!

It all started one night when my dad was reading my report card. My teacher wrote that I needed to push myself harder, and add more details to my writing pieces. I have so much time left when I'm done I can go back and add whatever I want. It is my voice! So my dad said I should start a blog. I thought about it for a while, and while I did my dad showed me some oher blogs. I finally decided to start one! It took me forever to figure out what to write, and I realized someone might want to know how i got the idea. So here I am writing The First!
